Coca-Cola 600 Preview

The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will return from their All-Star break on May 27 with the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson won the series' last event, the Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart completed the Top 3 at that race, with Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. rounding out the Top 5 on the night.

Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, Marcos Ambrose, and Joey Logano completed the Top 10 at the Darlington Raceway event.

Greg Biffle ended up in 12th place at the Bojangles' Southern 500, and his lead in the driver standings is now down to two points on Kenseth. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is 14 points back of Biffle in third place in the current standings.

Kevin Harvick won the Coca-Cola 600 last season, and Kenseth visited Victory Lane at the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte last October. Kurt Busch and Jamie McMurray picked up the wins at Charlotte during the 2010 season.

Johnson has taken the checkered flag at Charlotte six times in his Cup career, with Jeff Gordon earning five wins on the track, and Mark Martin winning there four times. Jeff Burton and Kahne each have three Charlotte wins, while Kenseth and McMurray have two, and Stewart, David Reutimann, and Casey Mears have one each.

After racing at Charlotte the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Dover International Speedway for the FedEx 400 on June 3. The rest of the June calendar then includes events at Pocono, Michigan, Sonoma, and Kentucky.
