Monaco Grand Prix Preview
The drivers of Formula 1 will continue a European swing on May 27 with their next event, the Monaco Grand Prix at the Circuit de Monaco.
Pastor Maldonado of Williams-Renault was the surprise winner of the Spanish Grand Prix last time out, beating Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen across the finish line for the title.
Romain Grosjean, Kamui Kobayashi, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Nico Hulkenberg made up the rest of the Top 10 in Spain, while Mark Webber had to settle for an 11th-place result.
Vettel and Alonso are now tied atop the drivers championship with 61 points on the season, while Hamilton is third with 53 points. Raikkonen (49 points) and Webber (48 points) round out the Top 5 in the drivers championship.
Red Bull has a 109-98 lead on McLaren in the constructors championship after the first five races of the season, with Lotus in third place with 84 points. Ferrari has 63 points, with Mercedes and Williams-Renault both at 43 points.
Vettel won the Monaco Grand Prix last season, with Alonso and Button joining him on the podium. Webber and Kobayashi rounded out the Top 5 drivers at that race, while Hamilton was sixth, and Rosberg finished back in 11th.
After racing at the Circuit de Monaco the drivers of Formula 1 will head across the Atlantic for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on June 10. The circuit will then be in Valencia for the European Grand Prix on June 24.
